Bruising; How To Create

In our make up technical classes Sue showed us how to create bruises and the perfect black eye. These are my notes from the class as well as the research and practice...

  • You can use Bruise Wheels from Kryolan, Supracolor palette or matte eye shadows to create the bruise
  • Do your research - think about how old is the bruise when creating it because they change colour daily (purple, red, yellow, green, dark, light etc)
  • When creating a character with a bruise on their face, first do the makeup and then the bruise on top
  • Blend the colours nicely
  • You can make a black eye look swollen by adding vaseline, don't powder
  • You can use red eye drops and a red eye pencil to finish off the look

Some of the bruises above were created in the lesson and some at home. When I showed Sue images she said that the bruises in last two images look very realistic and she was very pleased, but for others I need to practice more and blend the colours better.
