Hight Defeinition Broadcating And How It Affects Makeup Artists?

What is HD broadcasting?

HD (Hight Definition) is a digital format with the best qualitly avalible to us. HD videos, when viewed on a larger screen, look better, sharper and cleaner. Because images with higher definition have more pixels, the image can be 10-15 times sharper than on 35mm standard film. Make up artists have to be more careful when preparing someone to go on camera because everything is visible, from pores and blemishes to wrinkles.

How does it affect MUA's?

There are some makeup artists that do their job amazingly and can make their models look flawless on and off camera, whether it is standard or HD. But some can make the make up look good on 35mm standard film, but on HD you may notice a lot of mistakes because of the cleaner image. There are some tiny details that you could get away with in standard, but not in high definition. Every makeup artist needs to perfect their technique as well as keep up with technology and science. It is not only about what you can do with makeup and how amazing your skills are but you also must have the right products.

So how does media makeup keep up with the pixel revolution? As more broadcasts are being done in HDTV, makeup artist must refine their technique and product usage for a screen resolution that has as much as 10 times more picture detail than analog television. Camera formats have changed significantly as well as the lighting configurations and makeup artists will need to stay informed as the science continues to progress.
